Centennial Tour—Barry Rowsome, Mike Bernier and Steven Leu—September 28, 2024
After a June postponement due to rain, Sept 28th proved to be a wonderful day for the Centennial Tour, with 3 groups and 30 cars (6 cars had to drop out for a variety of reasons).
Leaving from Carleton Place we took Hwy 17, then Tatlock Road, and down Hwy 511 to Calabogie for a bio-break at the Stinson Calabogie gas station. Here members took the opportunity to chow down on butter tarts.
From Calabogie we headed to Centennial Lake Road with lots of curves, hills, and amazing views of water and scenery. Then we took Matawachan Road, stopping for lunch in Eganville at the Rio Tap and Grill. Menu choices included a Miata Burger.
After lunch we headed down other great roads with some curves and beautiful views, arriving at Scoops Ice Cream Shop to try out our favourite frozen desserts. At this point a few people left the group while others headed off to our final destination in Kanata, by way of Carp, with its busy fall fair. A fun filled day for all.
