Touring

Touring

Touring is one of the principal activities of the Club.  Our tours vary from quick ice cream runs, to day trips, to lengthy excursions lasting several days. A few guide posts provide structure to this activity.

Tour Guidelines

UMN Club members should familiarize themselves with our Club’s Touring Information and Guidelines. This sets out how we strive to keep everyone safe and having fun on our tours. A handy card version of the Tour Guidelines is available from the Tour Director.

Tour Sign-Up Sheet

Tour leaders (leads) have tour participants “sign-in” using the UMN Sign-in Sheet. Prior to the event, leads can list participants using our easy-to-update version. After sign-in, at the event, this form is sent to the UMN Tour Director. A waiver is used if a minor participates in a tour.

Limits

Our tours can include multiple groups of cars, but each group is limited to a maximum of 12 cars. We separate groups in time, route, or direction.  These features are to ensure everyone stays safe and has fun on our tours.  Capacity constraints of our destination or route may also impose a maximum limit in addition to the 12-car limit for groups.

CB Radios

We use CB Radios to communicate between cars while on tours. To get the maximum enjoyment from a tour, to improve safety, and to make sure we don't lose participants – Club members are encouraged to get and use a CB Radio.

Information about CB radios and how to install them in your Miata can be found by clicking here.
