UMN Members kicked off the Special End of Season ICR 2025, with great style and flair. And why shouldn’t they? Early week forecast predicted rain and lots of it, instead, participants got to experience everything we’d want from a Miata tour – sunny skies, beautiful scenery, great driving conditions, delicious food and for those not full from brunch, Ice Cream. Plus, time to socialize and trade stories with other members.
The response to this tour was exceptional, so a second convoy was added to accommodate the demand. A total of 21 cars (11 west end/10 east end) and 39 participants departed at 8:45 AM from each location.
During the drive, the signs of the approaching fall could be witnessed with some trees changing colours, although the fall foliage was certainly not at its peak. Perhaps the most prominent aspect of the trip, besides the ice cream of course, was the trip along the Long Sault Parkway, to the area known as the “Lost Villages”. While the history and culture of the area undoubtedly add to the interest in this particular region, it’s the unparalleled beauty of this area makes it an amazing drive. As you pass, from island to island on the parkway, the water, boats, lush green vegetation, pedestrians and cyclist add a sense of vitality.
Brunch at the MacIntosh Country Inn was both enjoyable and filling. The restaurant was easily able to accommodate our 39 members, and with a brunch style meal, we were able to leave much earlier than anticipated.
After brunch we headed back to the city for ice cream. Not everyone chose to participate, due to perhaps a little overindulgence at brunch, but for those of us who did…well none of us were disappointed. In fact, some of us came away with the evidence of melting ice cream on our shirts. Yum-yum!
